Trans Resilience in a Time of Crisis with Max Pearl

TransLife is excited to offer this great workshop with Max Pearl to the transgender/gender expansive community. This is not an allies event.
This is a challenging time for everyone, but for trans and gender-non conforming folks, especially folks of color, it’s especially hard. We are faced with the violence, rejection, judgment, and discrimination of transphobia. How do we thread the needle – speak out and fight for justice, at the
same time as live our lives with happiness and joy – even in the face of transphobia, violence, injustice, and our internal experiences of dysphoria, fear, or grief?
This workshop is about the elements of resilience for trans people. We’ll talk about what resilience is
and isn’t. We’ll talk about the key elements of resilience – self-love, emotional awareness,
embodiment and communication. We’ll talk about ways to fully inhabit our identities as trans people.
Max Pearl has a Ph.D in Neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University, and a Certificate of Theological Studies from Pacific School of Religion, in Berkeley. Max was an HIV/AIDS educator and advocate from 1985-1995. He has taken numerous trainings by Gay and Katie Hendricks and Body Trust, and has done multiple retreats in embodiment modalities including Authentic Movement.
Max has been teaching contemplative practices since 2005. Prior to transitioning, Max co-founded Conscious Girlfriend, where he coached individuals and couples, and taught numerous courses and workshops on emotional awareness, self-love, communication, and relationships.
Max is also a multi-genre writer and blogger, and lives in Sonoma County, California.
