The Astro Motel offers fun, hip, retro-chic décor amid mid-century modern furnishings and art. With a lush interior garden, The Astro is a fresh new addition to Santa Rosa’s SOFA arts district, which was recently dubbed “Sonoma County’s next big destination neighborhood” by San Francisco Chronicle. It offers an intimate introduction to the area’s natural splendor, and to its best and brightest makers and doers! Owned, designed and managed by Sonoma County locals, The Astro would love the opportunity share our colorful corner of Santa Rosa with you!
As an added bonus, The Astro Motel is partnering with Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition to offer free valet parking for the festival. Free valet parking is brought to you by The Astro Motel & The Spinster Sisters. Reduce your carbon footprint and come celebrate hassle and worry free!
“As a Lesbian and a bicycle advocate, I’m super excited by the opportunity to combine the two by bringing Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition’s valet bike parking to the Gay Pride Festival,” said Eris Weaver, Outreach and Event Coordinator for the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition. “Attendees can check their bikes with us and enjoy the event, knowing their rides are securely watched over by our staff. (We’ve parked thousands of bikes and NEVER lost one!) Avoid that annoying search for a parking spot, get a little exercise, and enjoy the surrounding neighborhoods by cycling instead of driving to the Parade.”
The Sonoma County Pride Festival will be held over a three day period from June 1st to June 3rd, 2018 in downtown Santa Rosa. The new, more centralized location will provide accessibility for public transit, hotel accommodations, and parking as well as providing an economic boost to Sonoma County. It’s designed to appeal to a large diversity of tastes as well as to invite our friends, family, and neighbors from the entire Bay Area to join the weekend fun.
The theme for this year’s Sonoma County Pride is ‘Together We Rise’. The idea behind the theme is to combat hateful rhetoric and policies of the current national political leadership and to stand behind the people of the community who feel threatened by the words and actions of others who have been emboldened by the last election. The event will also embrace people who have been traumatized and dislocated after the recent tragic fires that devastated the county and surrounding areas. The entire event will be about joining together to resist bigotry and discrimination and helping the community to heal and rebuild.
