SUMMARY:Outwatch Wine Country's Lgbtqi Film Festival Film Series
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday. March 11 @ 7 p.m. Winner of multiple awards\, “José” is a gripping\, layered and beautifully honest story about one working-class young man’s struggle to find himself. Made in the neorealist filmmaking tradition\, the film is a nuanced and vivid look at being gay in Central America. José lives with his mother in Guatemala City\, where they survive on her selling sandwiches at bus stops and with him working at a restaurant. In this sometimes dangerous country\, dominated by conservative religions\, living his life as an openly gay man is hard for José to imagine. When he meets attractive and gentle Luis (Manolo Herrera)\, a migrant from the rural coast\, they pursue an unexpected relationship with more emotion than José has ever felt. He is thrust into new passion and pain\, and self-reflection\, that push him to rethink his life. The Spanish-language film is presented with English subtitles.

SUMMARY:Understanding the Trans Experience Supporting Trans Youth
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a panel discussion on Understanding the Transgender Experience. \nFacilitated by Janna Barkin\, author\, educator and mom. Janna’s youngest child is transgender and she has made it her mission to foster more compassion\, understanding\, and acceptance in our society. \nPanelists include transgender adults\, and parents of transgender children who will share their perspectives with us. This program will support\, educate and inspire anyone who attends. \nRohnert Park’s panel on March 11 includes: \nJasper Lauter (he/him) is an actor\, writer\, poet and drag performer. He performs around the Bay Area as drag king Herman Wishes and loves to play with gender and masculinity through his art. Jasper is a gay trans man who often writes poetry about the Lgbt+ community\, current events and mental health. When he’s not writing or performing Jasper enjoys exploring the world around him and petting every dog he can. \nJordan Decker is a National/International Speaker and Accidental Activist. Having known the depths of bullying\, suicidal ideation and not feeling safe himself\, when Jordanlearned that 57% of trans youth will attempt suicide\, he was called to action. Jordan shares his story so others know they are not alone. His non-profit “Trans HeartLine” builds bridges between Faith\, Spirituality\, and Gender using education and advocacy work to provide safe post-op housing in the Bay Area. He can be reached at jordan@transheartline.org or 530-386-3847 TransHeartLine.org \nTheo Orbasido is a Filipino intersex and queer transgender man from Petaluma\, CA. He began his transition at the age of thirteen and as an adult\, after navigating the ups and downs of trans adolescence\, now advocates for the importance of common community and support for transgender youth. He currently studies veterinary medicine at Santa Rosa Junior College and spends his free time participating in the Petaluma campus’ Queer Student Union\, forging connections amongst his local queer community\, and creating art. Theo is also a proponent for wider representation of transgender people in STEM fields. \nSuzanne Ford is a fierce activist working toward equal rights for the Trans community. She is employed as a Regional Sales Manager at Revere Packaging\, being named by Plastic News as one of Women Breaking the Mold in the Packaging Industry in 2017. Suzanne is a board member of SF Pride and was elected as the current Treasurer. She also serves on the Boards of Trans Heartline\, and The Spahr Center. Suzanne lives in the SF Bay area with her wife Beverly and son\, Daniel. She is available to speak to groups or employers about trans issues and her experience facing the world as a trans woman!

SUMMARY:Disco Coalition Honoring Lazy Bear Founders (Beneficiary Lyric)
DESCRIPTION:(((Queeros : Harry Lit and Allen Egglit))\nBeneficiary : LYRIC\nhttps://lyric.org/ \nMusical Curation : DJ Rotten Robbie\nArtwork : @captainmagenta \nThis will be our 17th Disco Coalition Happy Hour! Join us on Feb 28th from 6-8 pm to honor all of Harry and Allen’s incredible legacy for creating one of the most revered Bear events and LGBTQ fundraisers in the world and help us raise funds for Lyric. To date\, Disco Coalition has raised $65\,598 for queer non-profits. \n***From 6-8 pm 50% of drinks sold will benefit Lyric and 100% of our queero signature cocktail will go to them*** \nThe era we are living in can leave us feeling a bit overwhelmed with no accessible or attainable outlets for driving positive change. These Friday events will allow people to network\, dance and celebrate community all the while driving awareness and raising funds for worthy causes. \n(((The Disco Coalition fosters solidarity\, builds community\, and encourages activism via gatherings and collaborations with the collective intention of shepherding queerkind toward a brighter future))) \nOur goal is to raise awareness and funds for queer nonprofits while also establishing a coalition that can mobilize when needed. Learn more on our website: https://www.discocoalition.org \nFuture events:\nMarch 27th honoring Cecilia Chung

SUMMARY:Jazz and Friends National Day of School and Community Readings

SUMMARY:Queers in the Park January 2020!
DESCRIPTION:Let’s warm up this Sunday with some tea or coffee and play some board games! Let’s settle into this new year and reconnect with each other! \nAnything you’re looking forward to this year that you want to tell us about? \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nThis is a queer meet up group! \nThis event is being put on by some local queers who want to connect\, gather\, network\, celebrate\, and build in a SAFE SPACE. \nHere are a few SAFE SPACE guidelines we borrowed from our fellow queers that we think would be good for our events. \n– Consent for touching.\n– Don’t assume\, we respect each other by trying not to assume anything about anyone’s identity\, gender or otherwise. Ask about pronouns when you first meet someone.\n– Oops/ Ouch: if someone says something you find hurtful\, you can say “ouch.” They then say “oops” and we all work it out\, either during or after the event.\n– Use “I” statements rather than “you” or “we”\, and preface generalizations with “In my lived experience…” in order to refrain from marginalizing or offending others.
