SUMMARY:Social Saturday: Intergenerational Picnic
DESCRIPTION:Join Positive Images LGBTQIA+ Center and North Bay LGBTQI Families for a Social Saturday Intergenerational Picnic on July 10 from 12-3pm at Julliard Park in Santa Rosa! \nAll LGBTQIA+ youth\, families\, adults\, and elders are welcome at this picnic\, which will be the first in a recurring series of monthly events where we will seek to bring together members of our community across generations\, particularly gender expansive youth\, teens\, and adults. \nFor our July gathering\, we will be hosting an informal hangout allowing space for folks to socialize\, relax\, and play as much [or as little] as they choose. In addition to a lovely shaded space at the park\, we will have an art station for youth and anyone else who is feeling creative! \nPlease feel free to bring any chairs\, blankets\, or snacks you would like. We will have water and a small selection of pre-packaged snacks available. Street parking is free and usually easy to find on South A Street. The park is ADA accessible. There are not open restrooms at Juilliard Park\, unfortunately. \nWe will have $50 gift cards available at the picnic to families for whom financial barriers such as the cost of gas\, a meal\, or missed work would otherwise prevent them from attending. If you feel your family could benefit from this support\, please fill out the form at the following link: \nbit.ly/lgbtqia-picnic \nAt our July picnic\, we would love to receive your input regarding the types of activities you would be interested in for these monthly intergenerational gatherings going forward\, as well as your suggestions for guests from our community who may wish to facilitate those activities. We also plan to make childcare available at future events. \nWe at Positive Images and North Bay LGBTQI Families are still very aware of and concerned about the spread of COVID-19.\n– If you are feeling sick in any way\, please stay home and take care of yourself.\n– Masks will be mandatory with no exceptions.\n– We will maintain a distance of six feet from one another at all times. \nWe’re excited to see you then!

SUMMARY:Documentary Film Discussion Group - El canto del Colibri
\n— \nThis Month’s Film-\nEl canto del Colibri\nhttps://events.sonomalibrary.org/event/4859704 \nYou can view the film on Kanopy with your library card: https://www.kanopy.com/product/el-canto-del-colibri-latino-immigrant-men- \nMuch like the seldom-heard song of the hummingbird\, the voices of Latino fathers are rarely heard in addressing LGBTQ issues. This film aims to amplify their voices. \n“El Canto del Colibri\,” is a story of Latino fathers dealing with issues of immigration\, faith\, marriage equality\, machismo\, culture\, and the process of their LGBTQ children coming out. Responding to requests from “Tres Gotas de Agua” audiences around the world\, the filmmakers are taking this journey by inviting Latino men to speak frankly about delicate and deeply personal topics. This film will address political issues about LGBTQ families\, social oppression\, shared responsibility and acceptance of LGBTQ people as members of Latino families. \nThe filmmakers will bring you real stories\, Latino immigrant fathers’ stories\, with interviews and interactions with family members\, and their everyday lives in their communities as a background. Using spectacular cinematography of our colorful Latino communities around the country\, the filmmakers intend to expose different points of view and help spur the development of powerful dialogue in our communities. This film seeks to fight isolation and build bridges of hope and solidarity among our Latino fathers\, their families and community activists.\nThis discussion will be in English and Spanish. \nFor instructions on how to set up a Kanopy account\, visit https://sonomalibrary.org/library-collection/kanopy\nYou will be emailed Zoom Meeting information before the meeting.

SUMMARY:Annual Sonoma County Pride Flag Raising - Rosenberg Building
DESCRIPTION:Come out (or join us on our live stream) as Sonoma County Pride kicks off Pride Month as we raise the Pride Flag on top of Rosenberg Building at the corner of Mendocino Ave & 4th St. \nThe pride flag was first introduced in 1978 by a man named Gilbert Baker. He was approached by the San Francisco Pride committee to come up with a new symbol to represent their fight for equal rights. After much deliberation\, he decided on a rainbow\, for its representation of diversity and of acceptance. Since then\, the rainbow flag has become an internationally recognizable symbol for the gay rights movement. It is associated with love\, and tolerance\, and peace. \nWe will also be streaming this event live on Facebook.
