Cleve created the AIDS Memorial Quilt, now over 54 tons, it is the world’s largest piece of community folk art. Jones is portrayed by actor Emile Hirsch in the movie Milk, director Gus Van Sant’s 2008 biopic of Harvey Milk.
In 1983, when AIDS was still a new and largely underestimated threat,, Cleve Jones co-founded the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Jones conceived the idea of the AIDS Memorial Quilt at a candlelight memorial for Harvey Milk in 1985. Join us for a book signing, reading, and Q & A session!
